Borderlands 2: How to solve the light puzzle in Bloodshot Stronghold

Borderlands2 2012-09-20 16-32-14-21

After you kill the four guys where you deliver the pizza (Ninja Turtles anyone?), there is a nice room with a couch(Badass Challenge) and a tv. There are five lights on the wall in the adjacent room. Once you turn all five lights green, a guy named “Flinter” jumps out and he drops some cool stuff. I got a blue revolver and some eridium.

To get all five lights green, you have hit the four items in the room: the lever, the valve, the tv, and the switch. They all have two positions.  I have coded the lights on the screen shot below.  The buttons change lights in the following patterns:

Lever – 1 & 3
or  4 & 5

Switch – 5
or 2 & 3 & 5

TV – 1
or 1 & 3 & 4

Pipe – 1 & 3 & 5
or 1 & 2

The main problem is the lack of one solution that always works.  In my experience, the switches do not spawn in the same position for every person.  This means that a “two clicks here, 3 clicks there” process doesn’t work.  However you can, now knowing what each button does, solve the puzzle through a simple process.

Here is how it works.  In an ideal world you would hit pipe, lever, lever, TV, and have green across the board.  But if any of  the buttons are in the wrong position, it doesn’t work.  So start by hitting the pipe see what you get, (1,2) or (1,3,5).  If you get (1,2) try for lever, lever, TV.  If it works, great! If not, use the button descriptions above to slowly pick your way through the puzzle.  Don’t be afraid to undo a move by pressing a button two more times.  The knowledge of what the buttons do will speed up your solve time dramatically compared to guessing.  At the same time it only takes a couple of minutes of random pushing to get the correct sequence.  Watch out for Flinter when you get it right.

Thank you! My husband was having bad luck with the levers and couldn’t find any good help. I found this and got the lights green in about a minute.

I struggled for about 30 minutes then after reading this found there are 2 more levers. Worked on it a little bit and got it right by accident. It’s tricky. Each of my switches had 3 sets. What makes is harder is you can’t just select the “set” of lights. As you scroll through the sets it inverts the light from green to red and vice versa. Lol. Great puzzle. TY for this thread.

Wow, nice one. I followed the valve technique (1,2) and got it pretty damn fast (after a helluva fight with Flinter). I got a really nice assault rifle and an intermediate rocket launcher out of the deal.

The tricky part about this puzzle is that each button has 4 different settings by pressing it repeatedly

    For me, the television went:

    Nothing
    1, 3, 4
    3, 4
    1

So with a little investigation into what each one did, it was easy enough so solve. Not sure if which ones they change are randomized but turning the wheel once, pulling the lever on the left twice, and pressing the TV 3 times made it work for me.
